Performing Right Society (PRS)
PRS is a non-profit making organisation set up by the composers and publishers of musical compositions to licence the performance of their copyright works to the public. Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) PPL is a company set up by the major record companies to licence public performance of the music they manufacture. This includes the use of sound recordings provided by records, tapes and CDs. If a venue has the following activities or equipment, a PPL licence is required:
Video Performance Limited (VPL) VPL is similar to PPL and licences the public use of videos controlled by the record companies. Venues that use music videos are required to have a VPL licence. |
